La casa de mis tías

My great aunts in 1930

La casa de mis tías

En la que las vacaciones

Se iban para siempre

Tapetes encantados llevándome a otros sitios

De escenarios fantásticos

Desterrados a mi mente

Donde la teoría de un ser supremo

Era desbancada entre las nubes de

Mis sueños

Los ceros infinitésimos

Extendiéndose por todo sitio

En mi imaginación

De niña colegiala

Lejos del ruido del tráfico

Yendo a algún lugar encantado

My aunts’ house

Where the holidays

Went on forever

Enchanted rugs taking me

To other places

And sceneries

In the confines of my mind

A God’s theory

Debunked by my school girl’s psyche

Infinitesimal zeros

Going past the traffic noise

Coming through the window

My aunts' house

My aunts' house
Where the shadows floated down the stairs
The breeze moved beside the furniture

And the spirits wandered the night
Disturbing the dust of centuries
Crawling under the floorboards

By the stairs
During quiet nights
Souls in pain moved in the darkness

The cobwebs shuddering behind the blinds
As a little girl dreamt of
The world beyond the pictures in the wall

And the hot chocolate
Before the prayers they recited each day
In a room lost in the house

Their voices rising in the ether
Escaping through the windows

La casa de mis tías por ti.

La casa de mis tías

My aunts' house
Where fantasy turned into reality
They had changua

And toasts
Before going to mass
At the university chapel

Anita made the breakfast
By the time I got downstairs
And Inesita had a spoon of honey

As the invisible doctors
Might have done their magic
In the middle of the night

After having a glass of water
Left on the bedside table
To pay for their wonders

La casa de mis tías
En la que la fantasía
Y la realidad

Se mezclaban
Donde comian changua y tostadas
Antes de ir a misa

En la capilla universitaria
Anita había preparado el desayuno
Antes de que me levantara

E Inesita confiaba que los médicos invisibles
Habrían hecho su magia
En el medio de la noche

Despues de tomar el vaso de agua
Que les dejaban por la cama
